CFO – Joint Venture within the Wallenberg Sphere

About the Company
This newly established joint venture, formed by AstraZeneca, Ericsson, Saab, SEB, and Wallenberg Investments, aims to build and operate a large-scale, independent AI infrastructure in Sweden. The mission is to empower Swedish industry for the AI era by providing secure, cutting-edge computing capacity for developing and deploying advanced AI models.
The infrastructure will utilize NVIDIA’s latest DGX SuperPODs and Grace Blackwell GB300 systems, offering exceptional computational power. As part of the initiative, NVIDIA will also set up its first AI technology and development center in Sweden, contributing expertise and training to partners and the wider national ecosystem.
Each partner brings unique strengths: AstraZeneca drives next-generation drug research, Ericsson develops AI models for telecom, Saab integrates AI with defense technologies, SEB focuses on productivity and future-proofing banking, and Wallenberg Investments provides strategic guidance to ensure long-term national impact.
The Position
As CFO, you will play a central leadership role in establishing a new organization within a large-scale, project-financed initiative. This is a unique opportunity to lay the financial foundation for a company of long-term significance to Sweden’s industrial and technological advancement.
You will be responsible for building operations from the ground up, engaging on both strategic and operational levels. Your role will span high-level financial strategy and hands-on financial operations, requiring you to contribute as both a strategic advisor and an operational leader.
As a key member of a lean startup team, you are expected to participate beyond the finance function, helping to create foundational systems, processes, and governance across the organization. The focus is on cost management and effective resource utilization, not traditional profit and loss.
Key responsibilities
The CFO reports directly to the CEO and will leverage trusted outsourced partners for day-to-day accounting rather than building an in-house finance team.
Key responsibilities include owning the company’s financial strategy and planning processes, acting as a thought partner to the CEO and working chair by contributing to company-wide strategy and long-term decision-making, and monitoring key business metrics to ensure financial sustainability. The role also involves building and running all core financial processes, establishing robust internal controls, accounting practices, and compliance structures, preparing reports for internal stakeholders, and managing relationships with external accountants, auditors, legal counsel, and tax advisors.
Background and Experience:
- Proven track record in building or transforming financial operations in early-stage ventures or large-scale, project-based organizations
- Demonstrated ability to develop financial infrastructure from scratch—processes, systems, controls, reporting—especially in environments where structure and routines are still emerging
- Comfortable shifting between high-level strategy and hands-on execution
- Experience supporting CEOs and boards with financial decision-making, risk assessment, and long-term planning
- Familiarity with running a lean internal structure while maintaining high standards of accuracy, compliance, and transparency
- Deep understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling in environments focused on resource efficiency rather than short-term profit
- Ability to prepare clear, actionable reporting for internal leadership and external stakeholders
- A personal commitment to Sweden’s long-term industrial and technological development, with the integrity and drive to operate in a purpose-driven initiative
- Previous experience as a CFO is advantageous but not required
Personal Characteristics:
- Structured and highly organized
- Strategic mindset and ability
- Self-driven and ambitious, with a strong sense of responsibility
- Trustworthy and skilled at building relationships with diverse stakeholders
- Analytical and intellectually agile, with a demonstrated ability to innovate and develop new approaches
- Strong communication skills
- Stable and confident personality
