Jurate Lingiene, CFO for Technology & Staff Functions at SEB, recently completed the Novare Executive Program 2024. We spoke with her to gain insights into the key takeaways and new perspectives she has acquired from the program.

What insight or learning from the program has had the greatest impact on how you work today, and why?

Novare Executive Program has had great impact on future proofing my leadership style and decision-making in high-pressure environments. The program emphasized balancing exploitation of existing strengths with exploration of new opportunities, especially in the face of rapidly changing trends such as AI, data, and hybrid workspaces. The speed of technological transformation requires us to stay agile and proactive to remain relevant.

Seeing the massive business transformation taking place in the north of Sweden during Novare North Innovation Tour was an eye-opening experience, offering valuable insights into how innovation and sustainability are shaping the future of business and leadership.

Additionally, the SCARF model and the emphasis on moving out of our comfort zones and exploring outside the bubble have been valuable. That reinforced the importance of creating an environment where innovation thrives, and team dynamics evolve positively.

What value has the program’s network brought to you professionally and personally?

The network and guest speakers within the program have been a great asset both professionally and personally. Professionally, it offered diverse perspectives, which broadened my understanding of global trends, business challenges, and leadership approaches beyond my company boundaries. Personally, the relationships built during the program have been motivating and inspiring. The mutual support and shared experiences with others have strengthened my own sense of purpose.

How has your leadership evolved as a result of the program experience?

The change in my leadership style has been a shift toward transformational leadership, focused on empowering my team and fostering a culture of growth and continuous learning. Insights from the program, such as embracing purpose and engaging with passion, integrity, and transparency, have helped me refine my approach to delegation, feedback, and coaching. Additionally, I now place greater emphasis on authenticity and building strong, collaborative teams, rather than focusing on “golf players” or individual performances. By leveraging these insights, I aim to encourage healthier tensions, eliminate unnecessary politics, and ensure that we are recruiting and nurturing true team players.
