About the position:
As Market Manager New Delhi you lead Business Sweden’s local office in India’s capital, one of the organisation’s largest hubs outside Sweden, with full responsibility for the consultancy operation including sales, delivery and profitable growth. You report to the Trade Commissioner to India and collaborate closely with Market Managers in Mumbai and Bengaluru as well as regional APAC leadership.
You lead a team of around 15–20 Swedish and Indian colleagues and work in close cooperation with the Swedish Embassy and Team Sweden in New Delhi. The role combines strategic and operational leadership where you drive client dialogues, shape insight-based customer offerings and close advisory deals that help Swedish companies grow in India and Indian companies explore opportunities in Sweden.
You represent Sweden and Business Sweden in high-level forums linked to the India–Sweden agenda and travel regularly within India, and occasionally to Sweden and the wider APAC region. The assignment is offered as an expatriate role with a package in line with Business Sweden’s overseas management positions, including housing, allowance, company car with driver for work-related transport and support for international schooling for accompanying children.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Lead, develop and inspire the consultancy team in New Delhi, ensuring clear direction, strong performance, high quality delivery and a collaborative, competence-building culture.
- Identify, shape and sell new business opportunities based on deep market and client insight, including the full sales process from outreach and proposal development to negotiation and closure.
- Act as a senior representative for Business Sweden towards Swedish and Indian stakeholders, including government bodies, embassies, consulates and executives in Swedish companies.
- Work closely with the Swedish Embassy and Team Sweden in New Delhi, and participate in high-level visits, business delegations and assignments linked to the India–Sweden agenda and broader trade and investment promotion.
- Balance commercially financed consulting projects, government-commissioned promotion activities and internal leadership and organisational development, collaborating across Business Sweden India as “One India” and with regional APAC leadership, with regular travel within India and occasional travel to Sweden and the region.
Background and Experience:
- Higher academic degree, preferably a Master of Science in Business, Administration and or Engineering.
- At least 12–15 years of relevant experience from management consulting or similar advisory roles, including documented experience of business development and team leadership in a consulting or professional services environment.
- Proven track record of selling consulting or advisory services, from developing and executing deals to negotiation and closing.
- Experience of working with external stakeholders in both public and private sectors, ideally including governmental agencies, embassies or international organisations, as well as corporate clients; experience from India or the APAC market is a strong merit.
- Experience of leading multicultural teams and working in complex, fast-changing environments, preferably in emerging markets or roles that combine public and private stakeholders.
- High level of proficiency in written and spoken Swedish and English, with Swedish citizenship required to interact with Swedish institutions in India and to hold this Market Manager role in New Delhi.
