Business Development Director
About the position
kW-set is strengthening its Nordic data center offering and is now seeking a Business Development Director to lead and grow the company’s data center business in Sweden. In this role you are the key, client-facing sales professional with clear ownership of building and expanding the Swedish customer base within mission-critical backup power solutions for data centers. You spend a large share of your time with existing and potential customers, identifying new opportunities, shaping solutions early in the design phase and driving deals from first discussions to signed contracts. As the first dedicated hire and “feet on the ground” in Sweden, you combine an outgoing, commercial approach with disciplined pipeline management, ensuring that meetings, leads and actions are continuously followed up and developed. You work as part of a Nordic data center team and collaborate closely with technical designers, project managers, partners and suppliers to create competitive, turnkey solutions. The role reports to the Chief Development Sales Officer (CDO) and involves regular travel within Sweden as well as to Norway, Finland and the Tuusula head office.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Lead and develop kW-set’s data center sales in Sweden, with full responsibility for driving growth in the segment.
- Build, manage and grow a structured sales pipeline, from lead identification and qualification through to forecasting and closing of large, project-based deals.
- Proactively drive the entire sales process, from initial customer contact and early design discussions to negotiation and contract signature.
- Map and monitor the Nordic data center market, including investments, new projects and evolving customer needs, and translate insights into concrete sales activities and growth initiatives.
- Coordinate closely with kW-set’s Nordic data center team, including technical design, project delivery and service, to ensure high quality proposals and seamless project handover.
- Collaborate with technology and equipment suppliers to shape joint offerings and go-to-market activities for key accounts and strategic projects.
Background and Experience
- Proven B2B sales and business development experience in mission-critical or industrial environments, for example data centers, electrical power, standby power, UPS or power distribution.
- Strong track record in project-based sales with complex, long sales cycles, ideally from early concept and design phases through to contract closing.
- Demonstrated ability to build and manage a structured pipeline and to close sizeable projects involving multiple decision-makers.
- Experience working with technical and commercial stakeholders such as CTOs, project directors, end customers and external engineering or consulting firms.
- Relevant technical university degree or similar education, giving a solid base in electrical power, backup power, generators, UPS or related industrial technologies.
- Fluency in Swedish and English, with good understanding of local business culture and sales practices in Sweden.
- Established local networks in Sweden and readiness to travel frequently within the country and occasionally across the Nordics and Europe.
- Experience from utilities, industrial groups, construction or infrastructure projects, or battery/energy storage providers is an advantage, as is experience from the data center segment and Nordic partner networks.
Personal characteristics
You have a strong commercial drive and thrive in front of customers, combining energy and persistence with a structured, analytical approach to sales and pipeline management. You are comfortable navigating complex, long-cycle sales processes and building trust with both technical and commercial stakeholders. You are solution oriented and enjoy translating customer needs and technical scope into competitive, feasible proposals. As the primary local sales resource, you work independently, take ownership and push activities forward, while also being a collaborative team player in a Nordic context. You are a proactive network builder who maintains long-term relationships with customers, consultants, partners and suppliers, and you are motivated by working in an entrepreneurial growth environment where structures are evolving and your responsibilities grow with the business.
