Security Clearance
Security clearance according to the Swedish Security Protection Act
According to Chapter 3, Section 3 of the Security Protection Act (2018:585), a security clearance must include both a basic investigation and a register check.
Basic investigation
We offer support for the entire basic investigation or selected parts, depending on your needs. When we manage the full process, the security interviews are conducted by our experienced interviewers — at your premises or ours.
Following the interview, we issue documentation based on three evaluation criteria: loyalty, vulnerability, and susceptibility to influence. Our methodology follows all directives and requirements set out in the Security Protection Act and the Security Protection Ordinance.
Extended background check & security interview
Security Interview – Three Main Objectives
- Assess the candidate’s truthfulness
- Identify primary and secondary risks
- Evaluate the candidate’s approach to risks in relation to your organization’s risk analysis
During the interview, a range of topics may be discussed, including secondary employment, drug and alcohol use, finances, personal interests, conflicts of interest, personal networks, previous work experience, education, international travel, and possible overseas assignments.
Analysis & Reporting
After the interviews, the analysis is conducted in two steps:
- An immediate verbal briefing if any urgent risks are identified.
- A final written report presented in a meeting and delivered in physical form.
Register Check
Once the basic investigation has been completed and approved, the client requests a register check from the Swedish Security Service (Säkerhetspolisen). This includes extracts from criminal records and other relevant registers.
