Ottobock, one of the world’s leading providers of orthopedic technology services and products, owns Aktiv Ortopedteknik. Together, they form a global network with over 500 orthopedic centers worldwide.
A leadership program aimed at equipping all leaders with concrete tools
What was the challenge?
The challenge for Ottobock/Aktiv Ortopedteknik was to integrate two cultures and form a leadership collective that strives toward the same goals and direction. The goal was to create a shared understanding of strategy and leadership while equipping leaders with common tools to drive change.
What was the solution?
The solution was to work with all 40 leaders in Sweden through four modules, divided into three groups over six months. The groups were formed based on prior leadership experience, and during the program, all leaders were assigned a smaller buddy group to reflect and follow up on their learning. Physical meetings were mixed with tasks that allowed participants to practice and test their skills with their teams in daily work. The modules combined theory, tools, and models with practical leadership training, coaching exercises, and walk-and-talk sessions.
What was the result?
Even during the program, they observed an early shift in participants’ ability to adopt strategic thinking and leverage each other within the leadership group. The behaviors and tools participants practiced throughout the program have been continuously applied in the organisation, sparking important discussions on how to lead change, work with feedback, and understand the different drivers within teams.
